Movie Review: Tuhog

Taking a risk on an edgy themed movie, Skylight Films and Star Cinema, proudly released TUHOG in theaters nationwide last July 17, 2013 and currently on it's second week in cinemas. Helmed and conceptualized by the amazing duo, director Veronica "Roni" Velasco, and screenplay writer Ms. Jinky Laurel, the mysterious, interesting and intriguing film themed as "black comedy" or "dramedy" is something new and fresh, stepping out of the movie comfort zone of  the usual movie themes "romance-comedy-drama-horror-action". Now, as a week passed on it's cinema play, many people have seen it already and got impressed. I had to admit, even though I know how proud are the makers of the film to have finished and released the movie, I am also equally proud that I have seen such a great movie. Now, I will share my own movie review for the film, TUHOG.

Star Cinema takes a risk with Skylight Films' TUHOG!

In celebration of it's 20 years of contributing to the Philippine movie industry, Star Cinema proudly presents TUHOG from their independent film arm Skylight Films. Tuhog as a movie was categorized in "maindie" or mainstream-indie and it was hyped under the genre: black comedy. Intriguing as it is, I do believe in this movie, I support local films and I know that this film has a lot to say to every Filipino moviegoers. I feel that it is a movie of depth and substance.

Last July 9, 2013 I attended Tuhog's intimate blogger's conference.. I had the chance to sit down and chit-chat with the creators and actors of the film. The creative team, Ms. Carmi Raymundo, (writer) Ms. Jinky Laurel and the director Ms. Veronica Velasco joined by two of the main cast, Enchong dee and Eugene Domingo..

Tuhog showing in theaters this July 17!

I have been a fan of the "maindie" movie arm of Star Cinema, Skylight Films, ever since they released Corazon ang Unang Aswang as the very first indie film distributed as mainstream. Now, after films like Amorosa, The Strangers and Bromance... here comes another different flavor that Skylight is yet to offer, TUHOG. Directed by Ms. Veronica Velasco, they are into a vision of contributing to local cinema industry by this film of depth, under the so-called "Black Comedy" genre.

Love OPM: Young, fresh and raw - KZ Tandingan and her music!

Yes, I am an OPM advocate as you may have noticed. I support OPM acts to boost our local music industry. But now, let me start this blog by saying that I AM A FAN OF KZ TANDINGAN!

Yes, I am.. I have been a fan since I was able to see her perform live for the very first time in Bryan Termulo's XXV concert. And seriously, it seems like she's casting a spell on everyone the moment she sings! And that's why I am happy and excited when her album came out. I immediately bought one for myself! And true enough, it was definitely worth my penny! Young, fresh and raw, KZ's musical style attacks in the very core of yourself. So far, it's OPM's soul at it's finest!
